Understanding The Meaning of “Intrinsically Safety ” & Intrinsically Safe Mobile Phone
Fire and explosions are a hazard in many industries. Sometimes the risk is quite obvious, such as when flammable gases such as hydrogen and propane are being produced or handled, but in other cases it is not so obvious. In particular, dust is often highly flammable.
Fire requires fuel, oxygen and a source of ignition. Combustible gases, vapors and dust provide fuel, oxygen is present in most environments, and ignition can come from sparks or hot surfaces. Every fire is dangerous, but in more extreme cases, the combustion is so fast that it causes an explosion. OSHA has received many reports of devastating fires and explosions involving a wide range of industries.
Preventing fires and explosions is a top priority, as no business or organization is willing to take responsibility for causing injury or death. In addition, the direct financial penalties for such incidents – punitive fines and increased insurance premiums – can undermine previously successful operations.
When is intrinsically safe mobile phone necessary?
When equipment is used in areas where combustibles are present, measures must be taken to minimize the risk of ignition. the OHSA accepts IS design as an appropriate approach, although it requires that the entire system be designed accordingly. Simply using is-certified components is not enough.
The exception to the need for certification is in the case of “simple instruments”. This is a term used for very low power or passive devices that do not cause ignition. Thermocouples and RTDs are good examples.
How do intrinsically safe mobile devices work?
Avoiding ignition requires a reduction in available power and maximum temperature. Defining the maximum available power is complex, but in general it can be taken to mean less than 29 V and less than 300 mA. A simpler view is that the power must be less than 1.3 w (note that many instruments require 24V and can often be designed for less than 500 mA; enough to meet IS certification in many cases).
Six categories define the temperature rating. In general, devices that meet the T4 designation are considered intrinsically safe because the temperature will not exceed 135°C (275°F) (devices that dissipate less than 1.3 W are typically kept below this temperature).
What types of intrinsically safe equipment are there?
A wide variety of industrial equipment, such as intrinsically safe mobile phone, flashlights, cameras, gas detectors and even radios, are available in intrinsically safe forms. In terms of instrumentation, the greatest need is for pressure and weight measurements. Temperature measurements usually meet the “simple instrumentation” rule, although temperature transmitters may need to send thermocouple signals over longer distances.
Is intrinsically safe certified equipment more expensive than non-certified equipment?
Typically, IS devices are slightly more expensive than non-certified versions. This comes more from obtaining and maintaining approval than from the cost of additional or uncommon components. the basic design of the IS barrier uses zener diodes to limit voltage, resistors to limit current and fuses, none of which are expensive.
What are the benefits?
IS provides several benefits when electrical equipment and instrumentation must be placed in a hazardous environment.
It helps ensure a safe working environment and protects those nearby from the risk of explosion.
It avoids the cost and bulk of an explosion-proof enclosure. The use of standard instrumentation cables saves additional costs.
Maintenance and diagnostic work can be performed without shutting down production and work area ventilation.
Insurance premiums may be reduced due to the reduced risk.
Does intrinsically safe equipment replace explosion-proof or pressurized?
Intrinsically safe equipment cannot replace these methods in all applications due to the reliance on low power and low temperature. Where possible, it usually results in significant installation and maintenance cost savings.
Does intrinsically safe affect the performance of certified devices?
No. Performance is the same as non-certified products with higher reliability. These devices use the same components as non-certified devices, but have been designed to limit the amount of energy stored and heat generated in the event of an internal failure.
Protecting People and Property
Many industrial, chemical and process environments present a significant risk of explosion due to the presence of flammable gases and vapors, dusts or fibers. Such environments are referred to as “hazardous” environments and must be designed to eliminate the possibility of ignition of flammable materials.
In such environments, it is often necessary to use instruments that are electrical in nature. When this is unavoidable, there are three possible approaches: place the equipment in an explosion-proof enclosure, purge the enclosure with an inert gas, or use intrinsically safe design principles.
IS design minimizes the generation of power and heat. The equipment must be independently IS certified and the entire system must be designed to IS standards before it can be put into service. However, using an IS design simplifies installation, saves money, maintains energized equipment and, most importantly, makes the workplace safer.
Benefits of Intrinsically Safe Mobile Phone in the Hazardous Area?
1.Provide Safe and Secure Mobile Communications
ATEX Explosion Proof /Intrinsically Safe Mobile Phone provide safe and secure mobile communications in classified or hazardous areas. You can stay connected within Class 1, Zone 1 classified hazardous areas (Zone 1/21, Zone 1, Zone 2/22). Intrinsically safe cell phones must meet specific battery design standards to achieve UL, ATEX directives, or IECEx certification for use in explosive environments.
2. Equipment Life
In manufacturing, rugged industrial handpieces play a key role in the entire value chain, from material collection, inbound and outbound logistics, procurement, demand management, order fulfillment, and manufacturing process management, to product development, commercialization, and last-mile delivery. Therefore, the first benefit of a ruggedized facility is its extremely durable and tested construction, enabling the equipment to operate under extreme climatic and operating conditions, as well as their resistance to physical shock, moisture, water, heat, and even sandstorms.
3. Inventory Management
Factory and warehouse management is essential for manufacturers. These warehouses store a variety of valuable items, parts and raw materials that can be used for a variety of manufacturing processes, machine maintenance and distribution. These along with finished goods mean keeping in an organized order and having proper accountability at all times. Did you know? rfid-based rugged devices greatly help improve inventory management by extending real-time information about goods entering and leaving the warehouse without opening boxes.
4. Maintenance machinery
The success of a manufacturing unit depends on the smooth operation of all machines to maintain the required level of efficiency in the production process. The use of industrial rugged phones has proven to be very beneficial to engineers as they allow them to seamlessly update accurate information records, share and access data in real time with managers and teams, and interact easily with customers and stakeholders. Overall, ruggedized devices improve communication, consistency, synchronization, reduced downtime, faster decision making, and increased productivity.
5. Improved process visibility
All of their work now needs to be in sync with each other, which means they need to always be told which operations need attention, which items are available, which need to be replaced or filled, which orders are waiting to be delivered, and so on. This means they need to communicate with each other at different touch points with real-time data, updates and information. Here, they take advantage of the Industrial Rugged cell phone, which allows them to communicate with each other effortlessly and instantly, and most importantly, provides complete visibility of the entire manufacturing process from start to finish.

It depends on your local carriers .
There are a number of contributing factors which can affect the audio performance of your device:
The most common cause of poor sound quality is water in the microphone or speaker.
If the handset has been subject to immersion in water then the microphone and speaker may need to dry out to resume normal functionality.
You, or the other person you are speaking with, maybe in an area of poor signal. Try moving to a different area.
You may have dirt/debris covering the microphone or speaker. If so, clean your device.
